Danny Boone/Rehab Interview 05/19/05
Interviewer: Jeff Wright aka Hydrosak from Charlotte, NC. Jeff's band
Dreadnot will be opening for Rehab at Amos' Southend on August 20th.
I had the pleasure to sit down with Rehab in May at the Rock Bottom Bar in
Charlotte NC, before they played a packed house at Amos’ Southend. Here is the
interview.
JW: First Id like to thank yall for letting me hang with ya
Danny: no prob.
JW: How did the new Rehab Project get it’s start?
Danny: Me and Mike got together and started writing songs and producing them and
realized that we were gonna need a band to do this. It was hard because we were
so into what we were doing that it was hard for us to let anybody in. I put in a
call to a friend of mine and told him I needed to put a band together, which is
the first time Ive ever asked for help with anything like that. By the end of
the day I had gotten hooked up with these guys.
JW: so what are you guys influences?
Mike: Hendrix, Zepplin, Stevie Wonder
Hano: Public Enemy, Gangstaar, Black Sheep, Sepultura, a little bit of
everything
Foz: everthing from old R&B to new stuff, Rage Against The Machine, Sublime,
everything we like comes into play when writing.
JW: Is there anyone you would like to colab with?
Danny: Azalin(?). Shes a Capitol Records artist and shes dope
Foz: Ive been hangin' with the Yin Yang Twins a lot, so hopefully we can colab
with them. Mike's worked with everybody from Puff Daddy to Nelly to shit, who
hasn’t he worked with
Danny: I’d like to do something with Steaknife.
JW: What do you think you’d be doin' if you never got into playing music?
Danny: Meth (laughs)
JW: Is the song Amends about you and Brooks or does it have another meaning?
Danny: No, not Brooks, But everybody has those certain people in their lives
that they’ve done wrong, and it’s a way for me to tell those people I’m sorry.
JW: Number one question- Does you think there will ever be any reconsiliation
with Brooks?
Danny: Is there a problem with Brooks?
JW: you tell me.
Danny: Well, We don’t talk. I called him after the Epic thing and said “hey man
why don’t we get you, me, and Steaknife back together”, And he said he had to
marinate on it and he never called me back. Me and Brooks have differences on a
lot of levels. We are two different people. We were raised two different ways.
JW: thanks for that insight homie.
