BOGLE, HERNDON

Our family history states that my gr gr grandmother, Sarah Amirah BOGLE Herndon, was the oldest daughter of William R. Bogle and Julia Elytte JONES. Our research has identified many sources which verifies this including: Sarah's tombstone, Cannon County marriage records, her husband's obituary, Cannon deed records, and great similarity in the names of Sarah and her children with W R Bogle family, e g, Sarah Amirah is named after her grandmothers, Sarah Witherspoon and Amiah Fugua. We have DNA test results for a known descendant of Nancy Malinda BOGLE, daughter of W R Bogle, and Sarah Amirah BOGLE Herndon. The results are a total match in all aspects. The biggest mistake to overcome has been the listing of Sarah Amirah as Amos on the 1850 census for W. R. Bogle household even though the person is listed as a female and 8 years old (born in 1842 same as Sarah). No other evidence that an Amos existed has ever been found. We would be happy to share details for our research.

COMER

On a genealogy trip to Cannon Co.last week, I was shown an 1870's photo of the country store at Short Mountain. Not sure our digital photo of the photo will turn out. Apparently a gentleman gave a copy to the owners of the store awhile back. Would like to find out who has that original & the possibilities of getting a better copy. My COMER relatives used to run the store years ago with another fellow, ?Robert Motley.

CUMMINGS, WEST, ALLEN (ALDEN,ALDERN)

William CUMMINGS was born in 1824 (1814 by some accounts), I believe, in Warren Co. In 1845 he married Manerva (ALDEN*) in Cannon Co. The couple appear with their children in the 1850 and the 1860 census reports in Warren Co. An early 1870s Cannon court document places them in Indian Territory. I am searching for William's ancestral lines. I have seen one account that a Benjamin CUMMINGS had a son born in the 1824 range, but found no follow-up. I am also looking for info on their descendants.
*Manerva (ALDEN,ALDERN) 's maiden name was WEST. In the early 1840s she married Samuel ALLEN. I have not seen the original record of her 1845 marriage to William CUMMINGS, but printed accounts record her family name at the time of the marriage as ALDEN or ALDERN. It should be ALLEN.

WEST, LANCE, COOPER, HEATON

Per query posted April 19, 2006 by JSanders...I am searching for any information concerning the location of the [Warren Co.] Ivy Bluff Church of Christ church records. These records may contain listings of members as well as mention of death of Anderson WEST, who died [and left a will] in 1847 in Cannon County, TN. His wife was Martha LANCE, daughter of Henry LANCE and Mary HEATON. Note that Martha LANCE West died in 1863, not on August 20, 1862. That date has been incorrectly attributed as the death date of Martha when it was confused with the date of birth of her granddaughter Sarah Pandora WEST ROBERTS who was born 20 Aug 1862 (one souce says 1861) in Cannon County, daughter of John Anderson WEST and Rachel COOPER.
